Justin Hennessy, a carpenter by trade, built his first log home with his father and two brothers, in a small rural area of Bancroft, ON, when he was the budding age of 20. The huge undertaking revealed his superb craftsmanship, passion for woodworking and attention to detail. Shortly thereafter, Justin moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta to focus on his construction endeavours. He mainly focused on wooden decks, fences, landscaping and gazebos in addition to constructing customs log homes.
His passion for Live Edge Furniture only became apparent when Hennessy returned to Ontario in 2016 where he dedicated his time to building handmade custom Live Edge furniture. He immersed himself in the process at every step: from casting the tree (to ensure quality), milling, and finishing the Live Edge furniture with epoxy resin. Hennessy Milling is now working directly with a wood manufacturing company providing kiln dried pine timbers from Algonquin Park, ON and closely with an engineer, designing cottage kits for others to partake in the assembly of their purchased log homes. As Hennessy Milling has grown, it now has a shop location in Caledon Village, ON for viewing of the cottage kits he builds, allowing future buyers to see hands on work and understanding of the step by step building process. Successfully selling, building and installing the cottage kits, Hennessy Milling continues to grow and is providing kits across Ontario. It is important to note, Hennessy’s eco-friendly approach to creating Live Edge Furniture.
Every Live Edge furniture is coming from trees that have fallen
naturally or have been a dangerous tree, or cleared due to development.
For each tree used, one is planted in its place.
Live Edge
furniture and timber-framed homes is all about “bringing the outdoors
indoors” and truly creates a unique experience for the home owner!
