Description
Engelmann Spruce/Lodgepole Pine (ESLP) Engelmann Spruce and Lodgepole Pine are both members of the pine family. The trees grow at higher elevations throughout British Columbia. Engelmann Spruce and Lodgepole Pine are similar in appearance and share many of the same characteristics. Because of their similarities, they are often processed together and marketed as ESLP. Products manufactured from ESLP include studs, construction lumber, poles, windows, doors, appearance grade boards and interior paneling.
Kiln-dried ESLP is a superior product for interior millwork and T&G patterns.
- ESLP is light in weight, fine-grained, and reasonably strong.
- It is light in color and contains no pitch.
- ESLP has small, tight knots and a fine appearance for use as wall paneling, wainscot, and ceiling patterns.
- ESLP is kiln-dried for dimensional stability—cup, warp, and twist are minimal.
- It is easy to paint, stain or finish with variety of products.
- ESLP is easy to cut, rip, mill and sand.
